What is UTV Racing?
UTV racing (Can Am Yamaha Polaris) are dynamic race classes that involve racing modified side-by-side vehicles across challenging terrains, including dirt tracks, forests, and rugged landscapes. These vehicles are built for performance, equipped with powerful engines, advanced suspension systems, and robust chassis to handle the toughest conditions.
This form of racing is gaining traction in New Zealand as our fastest growing class. Our club and our national body ORANZ now incorporate two classes for this category of racing (S & U Class).
UTV Brands
At our club we are seeing the below three brands (more are around), each offering unique features and capabilities become popular. The brands are always coming out with new and improved models to stay up to date with the latest updates.
Can-Am Mavericks: Renowned for their innovation and performance, Can-Am Mavericks are a favourite among UTV racers worldwide. With cutting-edge technology and industry-leading power, these vehicles deliver an exhilarating off-road experience.
Yamaha: Yamaha UTVs combine reliability, durability, and versatility, making them ideal for both recreational riding and competitive racing. With advanced engineering and precision handling, Yamaha UTVs excel in a variety of off-road environments.
Polaris: As one of the pioneers in the UTV industry, Polaris offers a wide range of models designed for every type of rider. From entry-level options to high-performance machines, Polaris UTVs are known for their agility, power, and rugged durability.
UTV Racing in New Zealand
With the UTV scene recreationally gaining popularity so too has the UTV racing scene. Our club hosts race events throughout the year where UTV’s that meet our rules and regulations compete. From local club races to national championships, there are opportunities for enthusiasts to test their skills and compete against fellow racers.
Whether you’re a seasoned competitor elsewhere or a newcomer to the UTV scene, our UTV racing classes offer an adrenaline-fueled experience. With most of the UTV’s also being twin seater there is a great opportunity to also have some fun with friend and the like.
