MAINLAND CHALLENGE – 5th & 6th JUNE – Weedons-Ross Road, West Melton

MAINLAND CHALLENGE

5th & 6th JUNE 2021

HOSTED AT THE CAN-AM BRP OFF ROAD RACEWAY

WEEDONS-ROSS ROAD, WEST MELTON

The Canterbury Off Road Club hosts the annual Mainland Challenge event with action packed racing on Saturday featuring several classes of off road vehicles while Sunday see the drivers head into the adjacent forest for a 250km endurance race.   Spectators can enjoy watching the cars soar over the table top jump from the nearby stands.

COMPETITOR INFORMATION

SATURDAY 5th JUNE   – SCRUTINEERING

Scrutineering will be held at the club track on Saturday 5th June from 8.00am to 9.30am.

Drivers and passengers to sign in, complete all paperwork, have race gear checked and have arm bands put on.

Scrutineering will be as per the ORANZ rulebook. Arm restraints or window nets are strongly recommended.  Front window meshes are also strongly recommended as there are stones present on the track surface.

PLEASE NOTE ALL CARS MUST HAVE A 2021 ORANZ TAG  – NO TAG NO RACE

 

SATURDAY 5th JUNE – SHORT COURSE

9.30am – Marshals/Media Briefing

10.00am – Drivers Briefing.  All drivers must attend.

10:30am – Racing starts ……

The short course will consist of 3 heats of 5 laps for each class.  

 

SUNDAY 6th JUNE – ENDURO – Waimakariri Regional River Park (encompassing the club track)

8.00am to 9.00am – Brake test will be held at the club track, Weedons Ross Road.   Cars must be in the queue for a brake test by 8.30am or you will start at the back of the grid.  Grid positions will be based on your fastest lap time in Saturday’s short course racing.

8.00am – Kiwi Truck Drivers Briefing

8.30am to 9.00am –  Kiwi Truck Enduro 

9.00am – Marshalls/Media Briefing

9.30am – Drivers Briefing. All drivers must attend.

10.00 am Racing starts ……

The Enduro will be 250kms.   The track closes 30 minutes after the chequered flag.  Details of the format for this years enduro will follow with confirmation of your entry.  Please ensure your email address is supplied on your entry form.

 

ENTRY FEE                    $350                                     TROPHY KARTS ENTRY FEE          $150

Entries close Friday 28th May 2021. Entries received after this date will be accepted however late entries will start off at the back of your class for the duration of Saturday’s racing. 

You will not be considered entered until your payment has been received.

ENTRY CONFIRMATION

As with previous years there will be no written entry confirmation. However email confirmation will be sent to those who have supplied an email address on their entry form. If you have not received confirmation please contact:  secretary@dirt.org.nz.

ENTRY TICKETS

All pit crew must be in the gate by 9am on both days racing.  Please indicate on the entry form the number of your pit crew attending.  For spectator safety the pit gate will be closed for public entry.  Arm bands will be issued for your crew at scrutineering.   The arm bands must be worn and shown for entry to and from the pits.  No arm band no entry.

Tickets for spectators can be purchased at the gate for $10 per entry, under 15yr free.  (Cash only)

PRIZEGIVING

This will be held on Sunday at the McLeans Island Golf Club, 800 Mcleans Island Road (which is approx. 10 minutes from the track near Orana Wildlife Park) about an hour after the conclusion of racing.  Nibbles will be provided by the club.  Drinks available for purchase from the bar.

SERVICES

There will be food and hot drinks available for purchase on both days.

CAMPING

Camping is allowed at the track however apart from toilets there are no other facilities available and the club gates will be closed and locked each night for security reasons so once you are in you are in.

MEDIA

All media personnel attending this event must attend a short media briefing and sign indemnities on both days.  Please contact Amanda at secretary@dirt.org.nz to register your attendance.

AS A CONDITION OF YOUR ENTRY ALL COMPETITORS ARE EXPECTED TO COMPLY WITH THE CANTERBURY OFF ROAD CLUB’S HEALTH AND SAFETY RULES DURING THE DURATION OF THIS EVENT

THERE WILL BE NO DOGS ALLOWED IN PITS OR PUBLIC VIEWING AREA FOR THE DURATION OF THIS EVENT
